How it works
Stretch marks are areas of skin where the deep dermis, located between the epidermis and hypodermis, has torn spontaneously or as a result of skin stretching. Hormonal or genetic factors, as well as rapid weight gain (particularly during pregnancy), can lead to the appearance of stretch marks. These skin irregularities are generally found on the stomach, breasts, hips or thighs. Visually, stretch marks take the form of purplish streaks similar to scars, and are inflammatory. Over time, they lighten to a pearly white. In addition to their aesthetic detriment, stretch marks can generate itching and pulling sensations that are uncomfortable.
