In perfumery, there are three categories of olfactory notes, depending on how long they last. Top notes are those that last the shortest, i.e. a few minutes. Next come the heart notes, which last for a few hours, and finally the base notes, which truly impregnate the skin or clothing for several hours.

- The base notes bring a sweet, floral touch to the woody notes, combining patchouli with gaiac wood.
